EmotionBuddy
Initial situation
For the Bacherlor Diploma, we were free to choose which type of project we wanted to do. For me, it was clear that I wanted to do something with art and an interactive display. Hence: an app prototype. My goal was to make an emotion diary focusing on photographs or art.
Process
Obviously, the question aroused how and if that vision of mine could even work. I started my project by finding different pictures and art that had multiple interpretations to it and tested these with pontential users. When I was satisfied with the results, I moved on to pen and paper prototyping; how can we combine emotions with these pictures. Later I moved on to simple mockups, and lastly I tested everything again with the full prototype.
Prototype
The final prototype is the result of seven iterations. Each one of those iterations was user-tested, to make sure that
people understood the concept and were willing to use this app. Users could discover their emotions by selecting images
and noting their feelings in a further step. In my testings I found out, that people can focus more on their emotions by
pressing on a hidden image, which then revealed the full picture. After selecting this, the users could add a feeling in
form of an illustration to the selection and add a small text.
This app is a diary, so after some time it can generate statiscs: With the selected feelings (1 is feeling very bad - 5
is feeling amazing) it is possible to show the users on which weekday they feel unwell or if they chose the same art on
multiple days but with different feelings connected to it.
